BELGRADE, July 27 (Hina) - Serbian police arrested Nikola Bajic, a member of a powerful criminal gang known as the Zemun clan, on Saturday night in connection with the March 12 assassination of prime minister Zoran Djindjic, Belgrade
electronic media reported on Sunday quoting reliable sources in the Interior Ministry.
BELGRADE, July 27 (Hina) - Serbian police arrested Nikola Bajic, a
member of a powerful criminal gang known as the Zemun clan, on
Saturday night in connection with the March 12 assassination of
prime minister Zoran Djindjic, Belgrade electronic media reported
on Sunday quoting reliable sources in the Interior Ministry. #L#
Bajic is one of the 45 persons suspected of preparing Djindjic's
assassination, and the police did not say where he had been
arrested. Until yesterday, he had been one of the ten suspects still
at large.
In April this year, Bajic was sentenced in absentia to three years'
imprisonment for extortion. According to Radio B92, he is a member
of a group of criminals who were sentenced in absentia to years in
prison for several abductions.
