The formal handover took place in the military base in the village
of Velika in the north of Montenegro. This and other bases along the
border will from now on be used by Montenegrin police.
The chief of the department for border affairs of the Montenegrin
Interior Ministry, Milan Paunovic, thanked the army for their
cooperation and said that the police would take over other military
bases along the border with Kosovo in the next two days.
