ZAGREB, July 22 (Hina) - There are no open issues between Croatia and Montenegro, and there is a great interest in further strengthening economic cooperation, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanovic said in Zagreb on Tuesday. #L# Speaking to reporters after the talks, Mesic said he found particularly important that political and security issues between the two countries were being addressed through dialogue. He cited the Protocol on Prevlaka, praising the way in which it was being implemented. Croatia and Montenegro want their border to be the most open in Europe, Mesic said. Vujanovic said that in dealing with the Prevlaka issue, Croatia and Montenegro had proved to the European Union and the international community they were both able to find viable solutions to problems through negotiation. Mesic said that Croatia and Montenegro were cooperating within many regional initiatives. "Croatia's application for European Union membership shows that good neighbourly and regional cooperation is a constituent part of European processes," Mesic said. (hina) vm
