"I understand that Lenac's workers are disgruntled, but they are
exerting pressure at the wrong address. They have to exert it on the
owners," Racan said.
He was asked by reporters how his cabinet would respond to the
demand by the shipyard's supervisory board that the government
issue guarantees for shipbuilding ventures and approve the use of
funds from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development
without talks on the replacement of Lenac director Damir Vrhovnik.
"Vrhovnik's status is an issue of Lenac's owners and not of the
government, which only wants the owners to be more responsible than
they have been in the past," Racan said after a joint lunch with
President Stjepan Mesic and parliament president Zlatko Tomcic.
