Same-sex partners would have the possibility to regulate support
and the right to acquire and regulate property rights, but would not
have the right to raise children and other rights enjoyed by married
heterosexual couples.
Labour and Social Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic told MPs Croatia
had committed itself with its Constitution and strategic
guidelines to adjusting its legislation with high standards of
human rights and equality. He added the Constitution guaranteed the
same rights and freedoms to everyone.
Starting from the principle of equality, the same-sex unions law
regulates the social fact that such unions exist in Croatia and that
the lack of regulation of their relations has been cause of
inequality, said Vidovic.
