ZAGREB, July 21 (Hina) - The trial of Ivica Rozic (41), accused of
having planted explosive devices in households of ethnic Serb
returnees to the area of Lika, commenced at the Zagreb County Court
on Monday morning. #L#
The trial began with the presentation of the indictment which
alleged that Rozic planted 14 explosive devices in houses, yards
and gardens of Serb returnees from 1996 to 1998. As a result, five
persons were killed, and four sustained serious injuries in those
blasts.
Rozic pleaded not guilty before a panel of judges, chaired by Judge
Miroslav Sovanj.
He said he was not guilty, and added that his innocence would be
proved just as it was in the trial in Rijeka.
In late March this year, the County Court in the seaport of Rijeka
acquitted Rozic, who had been tried as a member of the so-called
Gospic Group indicted for war crimes against civilians in the town
of Gospic in the autumn of 1991.
