ECONOMY MINISTER SAYS INA OIL COMPANY SOLD ACCORDING TO LAW

ZAGREB, July 18 (Hina) - The sale of shares of the INA oil company to Hungary's MOL and the conclusion of the sales agreement were fully conducted according to the law, Economy Minister Ljubo Jurcic said at the beginning of the parliamentary debate on INA's privatisation on Friday.
#L# Jurcic rejected suspicions of the opposition that the government had not equally treated all three strategic partners who bid for the purchase of 25 percent plus one share of INA, but that it had favoured MOL. "All three potential partners (...) were given identical documents on INA to which they affixed their signatures and submitted their bids," the minister said, adding that the agreements were regarded as a state secret until their signing. He said that MOL would be allowed to open petrol stations in Croatia only by using the name INA, because it would be conducting all its activities through INA. Jurcic expressed the government's position that INA was not privatised because 75 percent of its shares remained in state ownership. "INA has got a strong strategic partner and will become a strong regional player," he said. (hina) vm
