Presenting the final bill of amendments to the health insurance
law, Health Minister Andro Vlahusic said the changes regulated the
payment of allowances during prolonged maternity leaves when the
father takes this leave. The amendments also regulate the part-time
work until children are two-year old in case of the birth of twins,
triplets or more babies at the same time.
The benches of the parties in the ruling coalition endorsed the bill
giving no serious objection. Only the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS)
suggested that the bill should be improved and that it should be
checked whether a planned 450,000 kuna would be sufficient for the
payment of all benefits envisaged by the said changes.
Opposition parties' benches backed the bill but expressed a series
of objections.
The bench of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) said the draft
amendments lacked provisions on work-related accidents and
occupational diseases.
