ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - Croatian party benches on Wednesday endorsed a bill on ratifying a protocol on cooperation in preventing pollution of the Mediterranean from ships and in cases of danger.

All benches supported the draft protocol, since the Adriatic is a
channel of the Mediterranean, and assessed that the protocol
concerned Croatian tourism and the protection of the Adriatic.
During the discussion, the Croatian Party of Rights and the Istrian
Democratic Assembly advocated that the Adriatic be declared a
sensitive maritime area and acquire the status of a protected
Mediterranean region in line with the Barcelona Convention.
