The organising committee of the Vukovar war veterans' soccer
tournament, held last weekend, banned the 14 year-old boy from
playing because he is a Serb.
The Council stressed that "hatred and national intolerance do not
contribute to relations among people".
President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivica Racan, Deputy Prime
Minister Goran Granic and the Croatian war veterans' ministry
expressed outrage with the incident yesterday.
