after a famous Croatian politician, Miko Tripalo.

The name of Miko Tripalo, whose life was marked by his brave, clear
and firm commitment to democracy and the rule of law, symbolises the
political and programme profile of the centre, said a university
professor, Josip Kregar, at the ceremony of the establishment of
the centre in Zagreb on Wednesday.
The ceremony of the establishment pooled the family of the late
Tripalo, a score of founders of this non-profit, non-governmental
and non-party organisation, as well as outstanding intellectuals
and Tripalo's friends.
Vesna Pusic was elected as the chairman of the centre's assembly,
while Kregar was elected at the post of the head of the managing
board. The centre should later on be transformed into a
foundation.
