said on Tuesday at a ceremony held on Croatian Chamber of Trades and
Crafts (HOK) Day. #L#
"The government's orientation is perfectly clear, to continue
investing in trades and crafts and small businesses, in the
education of people and the promotion of people training for trades
and crafts," said the PM.
HOK president Stjepan Safran said bringing production up to date
and incorporating new technologies were priorities in the
development of trades and crafts so that Croatian craftsmen could
prepare for strong market competition, both at home and abroad.
Zeljko Pecek, the minister for trades, small and medium-sized
enterprises, recalled that 35,000 new jobs were opened in trades
and crafts last year. He expects the same or even bigger figure for
his year.
Pecek said his field was ready for entering the European Union. To
that end, a charter will be signed in the autumn under which Croatia
will join the Union in the small enterprise sector.
The highest HOK awards were presented at today's ceremony.
