ZAGREB, June 30 (Hina) - Matrix Croatica, the oldest Croatian cultural institution, presented its annual awards for literature, the best book of essays, science and the best work published by its branches at a ceremony held in Zagreb
on Monday.

The annual award for literature and art "August Senoa" went to
Miljenko Jergovic for his novel "Buick Rivera", published by
Durieux.
The "Antun Gustav Matos" award for the best book of essays went to
Krunoslav Pranjic for a book on Croatian writer Miroslav Krleza, "O
Krlezinu stilu i o koje~emu jo{".
The award "Ivan Kukuljevic Sakcinski" for the best book published
by Matrix Croatia's branches went to the Croatian State Archive,
the "Krscanska sadasnjost" publishing house and the Matrix
Croatica branch in Zadar for the scientific monograph "^asoslov
opatice ^ike" by Marijan Grgic and the phototypeset edition of the
same publication.
This is the oldest known women's breviary in the Christian world,
originating from Zadar and dating back to the 11th century. It is
kept in Oxford.
The science award "Oton Kucera" went to Nenad Cambi for the book
"Antika".
