ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on Wednesday presented a unified system of marking and registering domestic animals that will help curb the illegal animal trade and production of food of animal
origin.

Wednesday presented a unified system of marking and registering
domestic animals that will help curb the illegal animal trade and
production of food of animal origin. #L#
The main purpose of the system is to improve the health care of
people and animals, monitor the trade in domestic animals and the
quality of cattle products, ensure consumer protection and
entitlements to state subsidies.
Croatia is ready to make maximum efforts to protect its consumers
and the health of people and animals, Agriculture and Forestry
Minister Bozidar Pankretic said at the presentation.
Without this database we cannot go forward or be part of the
European Union, he added.
Kresimir Kuterovac, director of the Croatian Cattle Centre, which
organised the presentation, said that this project was important
for the cattle industry and crucial for cattle products quality
control.
Animals will be marked by legal entities and physical persons
authorised by the Ministry as well as by authorised veterinary
clinics, the Croatian Cattle Centre and farmers.
