OSIJEK, June 30 (Hina) - The leader of farmers in Slavonia and Baranja, Antun Laslo, on Monday said "it is shameful and immoral to offer farmers one kuna per kilo of wheat, given that it would be hardly possible with the purchase
price of 1.3 kuna per kilo to cover costs in the light of insufficient government support and consequences".

Laslo announced that farmers would stage protest rallies if the
government failed to increase the purchase price. "If there is no
choice, we shall raise the entire Croatia," he told Hina.
East Croatian farmers are particularly embittered with the fact
that state authorities "are occupied more with a gay parade and are
spending money for security of such gatherings than with the
problems of the planting and purchase of wheat," he added.
If 1,500 police officers were securing the gay parade (last
Saturday) and if the authorities say they have the right to it, then
it is obvious that farmers also have the right to take to the streets
and insist on their rights, Laslo said.
