By abandoning plans to grant loans to and cooperate with the
shipyard, Privredna Bank is pushing a Croatian shipyard into
bankruptcy so that Italian shipyards could win more contracts, the
union wrote in the letter.
The Croatian Metal Workers' Union is ready to recommend to its
members to transfer their accounts and deposits from Privredna Bank
to a more socially sensitive bank and urges the Italian embassy to
consider damage this could cause to the friendly Croatian-Italian
relations.
