THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, June 12 (Hina) - The spokesman for the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY),
Jim Landale, on Thursday stated that Croatian General Ante Gotovina
was an ICTY indictee and that he must surrender. #L#
He has been indicted, he has to surrender, Landale asked to comment
on a statement by the fugitive general's attorney who said that
there was no way Gotovina would agree to be questioned as a suspect
either until the indictment against him was withdrawn and the
international warrant for his arrest annulled.
Landale said that the Tribunal had still not received a letter by
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic in which he requests of the
tribunal to grant Gotovina the status of a suspect and that he be
allowed to give his testimony to ICTY investigators in Zagreb.
