"Because of the war and partly a bad policy, Croatia lags behind a
little but is now accelerating the drawing closer and has already
fulfilled more than 65 percent of its commitments from the
Stabilisation and Association Agreement. We plan on fulfilling
them over the course of 2006, and it is up to the EU to decide when it
will admit us," Racan said after talks with Slovakian PM Mikulas
Dzurinda and before the opening of a Croatia-Slovakia Economy
Forum.
Opening the Forum, Dzurinda said he was "confident 2007 will be as
important for Croatia as 2004 was for Slovakia", when the latter
joined the EU.
Attending the Forum are also Croatian Chamber of Commerce president
Nadan Vidosevic, Tourism Minister Pave Zupan-Ruskovic, and
Croatian businessmen.
