"Today we remember the establishment of the 1st Sisak partisan unit
and the decision of the Croat people to join a decisive struggle
against fascism. By siding with the Allies, the Croatian citizens
clearly demonstrated their anti-fascist attitude thus laying the
foundations of today's Croatia. We are proud of our anti-fascist
past which we share with democratic Europe.
We must not forget those who selflessly gave their lives in the
struggle against fascism thus making possible the establishment of
a modern, independent and free Croatia," reads the message.
