Several thousand faithful attended mass, including several hundred
local Croats.
After a procession down Cologne streets, the 45th anniversary of
the Croatian Catholic Mission's activity in Cologne was
celebrated, on which occasion Cardinal Meisner presented Bozanic
with a cross for the Marija Bistrica shrine in Croatia.
Meisner, who began his spiritual career in East Germany, said that
beatified Croatian Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac had been his biggest
role model during the communist regime.
