ROME, June 12 (Hina) - Pope John Paul II on Thursday received the participants of his recently completed 100th journey outside of Italy and his closest associates, thanking them for their company and all they had done to enable him to
make trips in the 25 years of his pontificate.

During the 100 journeys, the last of which to Croatia on June 5-9,
the Holy Father visited 129 countries. If one adds multiple visits
to one state, the pope made 210 pastoral trips during which he
delivered 2,399 speeches.
The pope travelled 1,160,113 kilometres, which corresponds to 29
times around the Earth or three times to the Moon and back.
John Paul II is to make his 101st trip to Bosnia on June 22.
