BELGRADE, May 26 (Hina) - Representatives of the committee for the defence of Veselin Sljivancanin, whom the UN war crimes tribunal indicted for war crimes in Vukovar in 1991, will this week start gathering signatures from citizens
for the request that Sljivancanin be tried in Serbia and Montenegro.

Committee representatives have recently asked for a meeting with
ICTY chief prosecutor Carla Del Ponte but their request was turned
down. Del Ponte insisted that the authorities in Belgrade arrest
Sljivancanin and extradite him to the tribunal at The Hague as soon
as possible.
