BELGRADE, May 17 (Hina) - A committee for the defence of Lieutenant Colonel Veselin Sljivancanin, whom the ICTY indicted for war crimes in Vukovar in 1991, requested of the ICTY office in Belgrade to enable members of the Sljivancanin
committee to meet with ICTY Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte, Belgrade's daily Glas Javnosti said on Saturday. According to the secretary of the committee, Vesna Gojkovic, representatives of the ICTY office have yet not replied to that request, but members of the committee expect the positive answer "in order to finally find a solution to the Sljivancanin case", the daily said. The chief prosecutor of the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague is scheduled to visit Belgrade on Monday, May 19.
