senate was held on Friday on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of
this university located in the biggest Croatian seaport. #L#
The roots of the university date back to 1627 when Jesuits
established their college and institute, said the university's
rector, academician Daniel Rukavina.
Today, the university includes 13 colleges and three teachers'
academies, two university libraries and the students' centre. It
employs 919 professors and 16,450 freshmen have enrolled in this
school year.
