Iran wishes to intensify cooperation with Croatia in the
shipbuilding industry, the construction of locomotives and other
railway equipment, engineering and road and maritime transport,
Horam said, adding, however, that Croatia's prices in transport
were too high.
The prices Croatia offers are not comparatively acceptable. If it
decides to revise them, there will be room for cooperation, the
Iranian minister said.
Picula said that Croatia and its economy were capable of taking on
new projects in shipbuilding and oil industries, infrastructure,
metallurgy and engineering, the construction and overhaul of
Iranian rail vehicles, electronic and telecommunication
industries, pharmaceutical industry and tourism. Croatia is also
offering Iran the use of its free zones, while Iran is offering
Croatia the use of its Bandar Abbas Harbour.
The two ministers agreed it was necessary to increase trade, which
amounted to US$7 million last year, however, according to Horam, it
could increase to $10-15 million. He recalled that the two
countries had signed all treaties important for trade.
In a final statement to the media, Picula said he was confident that
Croatia had managed to "make headway" with the visit.
During the two days of official talks, Croatian and Iranian
officials also exchanged opinions about current international
policy issues.
