According to unofficial sources, the meeting was held to discuss
the request of the U.S. Administration that Croatia should sign an
agreement on the non-extradition of U.S. citizens to the
International Criminal Court. Croatian authorities have not yet
made a decision on the matter.
The deadline by which the government must voice its opinion on the
signing of the agreement expires on July 1, when a law on the
protection of members of the Armed Forces will become effective in
the United States. Bosnia-Herzegovina complied with the U.S.
request and signed the agreement on May 17.
Also present at the talks was the President's advisor on defence and
military issues and former Croatian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff,
retired General Petar Stipetic.
