The SDP will demand in the next elections that the job that was
started on January 3 be finished, "which is what we have to assure
citizens and our voters about", Picula said at a seminar on European
integration processes and regional policy, organised in Rabac by
the SDP's Women's Forum, Ministry of European Integration, the
Friedrich Ebert foundation and the New Society.
"Croatia's being part of the European political, economic and
cultural circle is inevitable, but to become an integral part of the
European Union, we need many political changes. Since January 3,
2000 those changes have become increasingly visible," Picula
said.
Speaking about the results of the incumbent government, Picula said
Croatia would receive an extensive questionnaire in June, which
should be answered by autumn. He expects that the European
Commission and the Council of Ministers would next spring decide to
start negotiations with Croatia about admission to the EU.
