ZAGREB, May 13 (Hina) - Environmental protection has improved in the past decade, but there is a possibility that economic growth annuls most of the progress made in this area as some governments still have to make major progress in
separating pressures on the environment from economic activities. This is noted in a report of the European Environment Agency presented on Tuesday.

This, third, report on the state of environment in 52 European
countries was presented at today's news conference in the
Environmental Protection and Zoning Ministry.
The report was prepared for a ministerial conference called
"Environment for Europe", which will take place in Kiev on May 21-23
under the auspices of the UN's Economic Commission for Europe
(UNECE).
Croatia has attended the conference as a guest since 2001, so it
does not have an official obligation to submit data on the
environment. It did submit information about the protection of
biological diversity and protected areas for the first time in
March.
Environment Protection Minister Bozo Kovacevic said that he would
make efforts to see that Croatia is admitted to the European
Environment Agency as soon as possible.
