Several dozens of Croat American business people, who gathered on
Friday evening in a New York restaurant, run by Nereo Valentic who
is the chairman of the association's board, decided to raise funds
necessary for the professionalisation of this chamber, founded in
1999.
Some of the planned activities of the chamber, which has to date
been a non-profit and non-professional organisation, is to print
business guides about companies in the U.S.A. and all other
relevant institutions in America and Croatia which tackle issues
and problems of the immigration, to conduct market research, and
encourage cooperation between the U.S.A. and Croatia.
Croatia's Consul General in New York, Domagoj Kero, who was one of
the initiators of the establishment of the chamber four years ago,
said on Friday that about 100,000 Croats were living in the New York
area, whose business connections with the motherland required the
set-up of a professional organisation.
