Introducing the diplomat to reporters in Sarajevo on Thursday, the
international community's High Representative to Bosnia, Paddy
Ashdown, said the task of a former assistant to the U.S. Defence
Secretary, was to, by late September, draw up laws with the
cooperation of local authorities, which would make it possible for
Bosnia to get a more efficient and transparent defence system at the
start of 2004.
According to Ashdown, this would create preconditions for the
country to soon become a member of NATO's Partnership for Peace
Programme.
