ZAGREB, May 8 (Hina) - At the beginning of its sitting on Thursday, the Croatian parliament adopted two laws in an emergency procedure which ratify loan agreements in the amount of EUR96.5 million earmarked for the reconstruction of
the Zagreb-Lipovac highway.

the Croatian parliament adopted two laws in an emergency procedure
which ratify loan agreements in the amount of EUR96.5 million
earmarked for the reconstruction of the Zagreb-Lipovac highway.

Both loans were requested by the Croatian Highways company. The
first loan worth EUR50 million was granted by the European
Investment bank and the time of repayment is 15 years with four and a
half years of grace period. The completion of the construction
works is scheduled for 2005.
The second loan was requested from the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development and it amounts to EUR46.5 million.
The loan is also earmarked for the reconstruction of the highway.
The time of repayment is 15 years while the grace period is 3 years.
Parliament unanimously adopted a series of laws on the ratification
of international agreements, including the agreement on
establishing an international organisation for the protection of
fishery in eastern and central Europe (EUROFISH).
By ratifying the agreement, Croatia became a full member of the
organisation which is aimed at advancing the development of fishery
by encouraging investments and trade.
Also adopted in the emergency procedure were laws on avoiding
double taxation between the Croatian government and the government
of the Republic of Mauritius, the hand-over and take-over of
illegal migrants with the governments of Bulgaria and Serbia and
Montenegro.
Parliament resumed its sitting with a debate on a government-
sponsored bill on railways.
