SABOR HEAD TOMCIC IN BRUSSELS ON TUESDAY

ZAGREB, May 5 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament President and Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) leader Zlatko Tomcic will attend a regular working dinner of the presidency of the EPP-ED faction in the European Parliament and EPP members in the European Commission, to be held in Brussels on Tuesday.
ZAGREB, May 5 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament President and Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) leader Zlatko Tomcic will attend a regular working dinner of the presidency of the EPP-ED faction in the European Parliament and EPP members in the European Commission, to be held in Brussels on Tuesday. #L# Tomcic will travel to Brussels at the invitation of Hans-Gert Poettering, the chairman of the EPP-ED Group (the European People's Party and European Democrats) in the European Parliament, read a statement released by the HSS on Monday. Besides Tomcic, other special guests from south-east Europe at the dinner are a member of Bosnia-Herzegovina's Presidency and head of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Sulejman Tihic, and the leader of the G17 Plus party and vice-premier of the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Miroljub Labus, the statement read. The purpose of the dinner is to discuss the future development of the region and its relations with the European Union as well as to consider the intensifying of relations between countries in the region in light of their bids to join the EU, according to the same source. European Commission President Romano Prodi and the commissioner for foreign relations, Chris Patten, will attend the dinner on behalf of the EC. The EPP-ED Group, which gathers centrist parties, Christian Democrats and people's parties, is the biggest faction in the European Parliament. The HSS, together with other two Croatian parties -- the Democratic Centre (DC) and the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) -- was given the status of observers in the group at its 15the congress in Portugal in October 2002.
