"I don't know by which logic, regardless of whom we are talking
about, just about everybody should have attended the funeral. I did
what was expected of my function, I sent a wreath and my envoy.
General Bobetko joined the defence of the Republic of Croatia in
1992, he made his contribution and this has been acknowledged.
There is no reason to make a scandal out of the fact that I wasn't
able to make it to the funeral," said Mesic.
As an honorary citizen of Orahovica, President Mesic attended the
day of the town which this year marks its 775th anniversary.
