BELGRADE, April 24 (Hina) - The foreign trade deficit in Serbia and Montenegro in the first three months of this year exceeded one billion US dollars, which is a 18.1% increase in comparison to the same period last year.

billion US dollars, which is a 18.1% increase in comparison to the

According to the country's Bureau of Statistics, in this year's
first quarter exports were $642 million, or 38.5% more than at the
same time last year, while imports amounted to $1.7 billion, an
increase of 25.2%.
Exports thus covered only 38.4 percent of imports in the said
period.
Serbia and Montenegro's most important export partners for the
first three months this year were Italy, Bosnia's Serb entity,
Germany, Macedonia and Switzerland, with around 54 percent of
exports. Import partners -- with around 45 percent -- are the
Russian Federation, Germany, Italy, China and France.
