ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - The president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Prime Minister, Ivica Racan, on Monday night refused to comment on the verdict passed earlier in the day by the Rijeka County Court to Mirko Norac and
the so-called Gospic Group, saying he "does not wish to comment on the verdict as it would not be good to do so as prime minister, even more so because the verdict is not final".

"We can talk about this when the verdict becomes final," Racan said
ahead of tonight's session of the SDP Presidency.
Commenting on the blockade of a highway near Sinj as a sign of
protest against the verdict, Racan said "what I now expect from
others, and what I myself am doing, is that they respect the law-
based state and the process which proves Croatia to be a democratic
country. Contesting the verdict can only be done in court, not in
the streets," Racan said.
He added that he "deeply believes that many parties will contribute
to Croatia being a law-based state" which he "expects at this
moment".
The Croatian Auto Club reported Monday night that the main road in
Sinj and parts of the Zagreb-Split highway near Sinj and Kastel
Stari were blockaded.
