Describing the trial as a political process, Djapic said he was not
very surprised at the court's ruling.
Libra party president Jozo Rados believes that the verdict is
legally founded and hopes that it will not be contested by either
side.
"The verdict proves the ability of the Croatian judiciary to
process even such cases, and Croats must believe that the verdict is
just and a result of a fair trial," Rados said.
He added that he understood the tragedy which Mirko Norac was
experiencing, but he expected no abuse of the verdict by political
parties or MPs.
A vice-president of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) and MP,
Ljubica Lalic, did not want to comment on the verdict, saying it was
not up to her, as a member of the legislative authority, to comment
on verdicts.
She did not exclude the possibility of a protest, but said she hoped
the Croatian people would act maturely.
