"Several days ago, after the conclusion of the main hearing, we
received a document which contains acquitting details,"
Martinovic's attorney Branko Seric told Hina.
He did not wish to specify which document it was, stressing that the
trial chamber had declared it confidential.
According to him, the acquitting parts relate to Naletilic, but
could also influence the entire case and even lead to the renewal of
a part of the trial.
The Hague tribunal postponed the passing of a verdict in the trial
which was scheduled for March 24 to give the trial chamber time to
decide whether the material which the prosecution forwarded to the
defence could be acquitting.
Prosecutors last October asked for a 35-year prison sentence for
Tuta and 25 years for Stela.
Tuta and Stela were indicted under individual and command
responsibility for crimes committed in the areas of Mostar and
Jablanica in 1993 by the so-called Convicts Battalion, under Tuta's
command, and Stela's "Mrmak" anti-terrorist unit, which was part of
the battalion.
