ZAGREB, Feb 28 (Hina) - The Japanese government has donated 72,585 euros to the Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR). An agreement to that effect was signed by Ambassador Shojiro Imanishi and HCR president Otto Jungwirth at the Labour
and Welfare Ministry on Friday.

The funds will be used to purchase equipment for mine-clearing
experts, for technical reconnoitring, and to draw up demining
projects for the Karlovac and Dalmatia areas.
Imanishi said mines prevented development and reconstruction, and
hoped the HCR would realise its goal to have Croatia cleared of
mines by 2010.
The ambassador said Japan's government had invested more than
US$2.5 million in demining in Croatia through the U.N. Trust Fund
for Assistance in Mine Action.
