On March 3 to 5, General Markac will speak to the UN war crimes
tribunal's Hague investigators in the capacity of a suspect,
Separovic said, noting that Markac would probably be questioned
about his knowledge of the 1995 Flash and Storm actions and of any
possible explanations surrounding the 1993 Medak Pocket action.
Markac was called for the first round of questioning last December
when he answered questions about the liberating operations in Medak
Pocket and Maslenica.
Separovic said that his client had been preparing himself since
then for this next round of the questioning.
The problems he had in accessing relevant documents were removed
with the intervention of the Defence Ministry, the lawyer said
however some war logs were still lacking for some units that were
active as part of special police forces.
Separovic said that he expected to obtain the documents from the
government's office for co-operation with the Hague-based tribunal
by the end of the week.
Until 2000, Markac was the Interior Affairs Minister's assistant,
in charge of special police forces.
