The reception centre has been set up temporarily to help the
government until a state centre for asylum-seekers is established,
the mission head said.
Bajulaiye commended cooperation between the Mission and the town
authorities as well as the government's Office for Displaced
Persons and Refugees in removing administrative obstacles to the
return of refugees. He added that 2,700 Serbs had returned to the
Sisak area so far.
The UNHCR, in cooperation with some donor-governments and private
companies, last year launched a pilot-project in the Sisak area
aimed at reviving local economy and helping returnees find
employment.
