MOSTAR, Feb 24 (Hina) - The Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina has
not received any official request from the United States for the use
of Bosnia's air space or airports in the country in case of military
intervention in Iraq, the B-H Presidency's information service
reported on Monday. #L#
If the US forwards such a request, government bodies in Bosnia will
inspect them and form an opinion, the information service
reported.
In the case of military interventions in Iraq, it is planned that US
forces could use the airports in Tuzla and Sarajevo, international
officials engaged in that country who wished to remain anonymous
said.
They added that SFOR has about 2,000 US soldiers in Tuzla and the
supervision of that airport could be arranged in a very short time.
There is also a possibility that the US does not even make any
special request for approval from Bosnia authorities to use the
airports in Tuzla and Sarajevo because Bosnia, together with
Croatia and Hungary, has already been considered as a logistics
region for the Near East, the foreign officials said.
