Schwartz Schilling said Bosnia-Herzegovina had to realise that it
was not the EU that was changing its mechanisms but that it had to
adjust to the existing ones. He said he was aware that the Bosnian
Serb entity opposed the introduction of VAT, but nevertheless
called on politicians to reach a consensus on the issue with the
international community.
Bosnian Serb leaders have opposed the establishment of a single
customs system in the country and the introduction of VAT, because
they believe that it would threaten Republika Srpska.
