ZAGREB, Feb 19 (Hina) - The Croatian Power Industry (HEP) expects
that the strike announced by the "Tehnos" union for March 4 will not
take place, but the company will secure regular power supply even if
the strike is held. #L#
In a statement issued on Wednesday, HEP said that should it prove
necessary, it would re-assign duties and other activities to ensure
regular power supply.
The company stated that it did not challenge the workers' right to
strike, however, it must not hamper power supply.
The union, which gathers 1,700 of around 15,000 HEP employees,
today refused to take part in a conciliation process because the
Economic-Social Council did not organise it within the deadline as
envisaged by law, union leader Miljenko Prugovecki told Hina.
The HEP management states that most employees do not support the
strike and that the company's leading Croatian Power Industry Union
will not join it either.
