OBROVAC, Feb 19 (Hina) - The U.S. Agency for International
Development (USAID) and the Urban Institute in Obrovac on Wednesday
presented a project of local self-government reform to some two
dozen local communities' representatives. #L#
USAID representative Tom Rogers said the presentation of the
project was part of a bilateral agreement between the Croatian and
American governments aimed at assisting local self-governments in
improving models of government.
The U.S. government has engaged experts fro the Urban Institute, a
non-profit organisation, to implement the reform, Rogers said.
The presentation was attended by representatives of local
communities from Obrovac, Ervenik, Kistanje, Lisani Ostrovicki,
Novigrad, Polaca, Skabrnja, Skradin and other towns in areas of
special government concern.
They were presented models of citizens' participation in local
self-government, property management, information management and
a finance management model.
