(SHZ), which protested in front of the government on Tuesday,

higher pays and better work conditions. #L#
In a half-hour rally which began at 10.30 a.m. union
representatives opposed the privatisation and restructuring of HZ
before a new privatisation law was adopted and a restructuring
strategy was worked out.
They think a new collective agreement, which they refuse to sign, is
harmful for about 80 percent of HZ employees.
Today's protest was the last in a spate the union staged at railway
stations in all major cities since Feb. 5 to protect the interests
of its members.
The SHZ, which gathers 3,700 of 16,000 HZ workers, is dissatisfied
with the position of passenger and cargo transport workers and
workers maintaining engines and carriages.
The union leaders will be received by Deputy Prime Minister Slavko
Linic later in the day. The HZ management is also expected to hold a
news conference.
