expressed abhorrence with the Croatian government's support to the
U.S. policy towards Iraq, which, according to the association,
leads to a new escalation of violence and the militarisation of the
planet. #L#
The anti-war association says in a statement that "the government's
support to the U.S policy is even more bizarre because it is not
given 'to save the human race from a crazy dictator' but the main
motive behind the support is scoring political points in the
process of Croatia's accelerated joining of NATO".
The association also asked a rhetorical question: "Will the
government open Croatia's borders to Iraqi civilians who will be
the primary victims of the military intervention?" and expressed
hope that "the government will not send humanitarian aid to Iraq in
the form of weapons as it did in September 2002 to Afghanistan".
The Croatian Anti-War Campaign called on Croatian citizens to join
in protests against the war in Iraq.
