ZAGREB, Feb 11 (Hina) - The Croatian president's advisor on
economy, Dubravko Radosevic, has said that it was his own omission
due to which President Stjepan Mesic did not know that he was
signing "The Protocol on The Sale of the Sisak Ironworks", and
therefore Radosevic has offered his resignation. #L#
According to a statement which Radosevic issued on Tuesday, the
head of state said the truth claiming that he had not signed any
protocol on the sale of the Sisak iron plant, as he was convinced
that he had signed only notes on talks he held with representatives
of the Russian "Mechel" company and on "his support in principle to
one project."
Radosevic confirmed that notes were compiled at the said meeting,
and they were named "the Protocol on Intention" only because of his
omission, and which, Radosevic says, without grounds imply
possible legal effects of that document.
Radosevic further admits that he failed to warn the president about
this fact, and before the signing procedure he briefed President
Mesic only on parts of the notes referring to him (President), and
which only "express the President's support in principle to the
project of the purchase of the Sisak ironworks."
"Working in good faith, I contributed, however, to the creation of a
situation which is being used for launching a campaign against the
President of the Republic. Accepting my share of the responsibility
I have offered my resignation to the President from the office of
his advisor on economy," read the statement.
Releasing Radosevic's statement, the Office of President Mesic
believes that it offers all the relevant data to the public,
explaining why and to which extent President Mesic was involved in
the talks conducted before the signing of the contract on the sale
of the Sisak plant to the Russian company.
