On Sunday, presidents of the Italian communities in Pula, Opatija,
Moscenicka Draga, Split, Gamboc and Buzet on Sunday issued the
statement condemning recent public statements of Zili who asked for
the replacement of the members of the executive committee of the
national university in Trieste over their decision to block funds
aimed at financing the Italian Union (an organisation of ethnic
Italians in Croatia and Slovenia).
Zilli today said that signatories to yesterday's statement had the
right to voice their opinion, but they accounted, as he said, for a
minority of ethnic Italian communities, and those were
representatives of six out of 50 local communities united in the
Italian Union.
