"Pensioners, which account for 80 percent of beneficiaries of
public heath care, are denied the right to health care, which can
have disastrous consequences for their condition," the
association's president, Vladimir Lokmer, said at a news
conference.
The association has forwarded protest letters to a vice premier,
Ante Simonic, Health Minister Andro Vlahusic and the Croatian
Doctors' Union leader, Ivica Babic, but so far nobody has
responded, Lokmer said.
He added that pensioners did not take sides with anybody but were
just hostages to the entire situation.
