SARAJEVO, Jan 31 (Hina) - The US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, has asked Bosnian authorities to treat the struggle against terrorism as one of their most important tasks and urges them to strengthen the legal system as to ensure
the efficient capture and prosecution of suspect terrorists.

has asked Bosnian authorities to treat the struggle against

According to a statement released by the foreign ministry of
Bosnia-Herzegovina, this stand has been expressed in a letter
Powell sent to his Bosnian counterpart, Mladen Ivanic,
congratulating him on his recent election as Bosnian Foreign
Minister.
Washington expects of Sarajevo to introduce a Value Added Tax and
establish an unified customs administration and a single defence
ministry as pre-conditions for the country's admission into NATO's
Partnership for Peace programme.
The US State Secretary reminded Ivanic of the duty of his country's
authorities to fully cooperate with the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and extradite war
criminals.
